The US Departments of Justice and Education Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Brown vs. Board of Education Topeka Decision
On May 14, 2024 Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and his staff hosted an event to commemorate the anniversary of Brown v Board. Secretary of Education Miguel Cordona was an invited guest speaker. Members of the group known as the McDonogh Three were among the special guests at this event. Leona Tate, Gail Etienne, and Tessie Prevost, desegrated McDonogh 19 Elementary School, and Ruby Bridges, desegrated the William Frantz Elementary School. Because these four girls desegregated schools in New Orleans on the same day in November 1960, they are known now as the New Orleans Four.
