The Western Educational Equity Assistance Center (WEEAC) at WestEd works to make sure that every child has equal access to high-quality education in learning environments that promote connection and belonging—regardless of race, sex, national origin, or religion.
We provide technical assistance (TA) at the request of state, regional, and local educational agencies on equity issues in education. Our partners include the following:
- state educational agencies (SEAs)
- local educational agencies (LEAs)
- schools or their governing boards
Three Levels of Support
Publicly Available Resources (Universal TA)
WEEAC provides free resources to help address your most urgent and important issues related to educational inequity. We make research and evidence-based policy and practice easy to understand and use, focusing on topics that matter most to the schools in our region—based on what you tell us you need, the requests we get, and guidance from our Advisory Council.
We created this website so everyone can access our resources. These include materials developed by WEEAC subject matter experts and carefully selected resources from other leading organizations that share our mission. Our collection grows each year and includes the following:
- webinars
- podcasts
- tools
- practice guides
- stories from schools
- infographics
- presentations
- upcoming national conferences
Small-Group Experiences for State and Local Leaders (Targeted TA)
WEEAC brings together collaborative groups of education system leaders to learn with and from each other. Our staff facilitate sessions that include the following:
- workshops led by national experts
- resource and idea sharing
- peer-to-peer learning
- book discussions
- office hours
- networking
You and your colleagues will work together using your different strengths to address common challenges. We then share what these groups learn through shared goals, interest holder engagement, data use, strategic communications, funding and policy, and capacity building.
This year, we’re offering two opportunities:
- School Climate Data Use peer collaborative—for up to 10 districts in our region. This collaborative will help districts choose meaningful measures, analyze their data, and conduct collaborative reviews to strengthen connections and engagement in their schools. Learn more and apply to the School Climate Data Use peer collaborative.
- Success for All peer collaborative—for SEAs in our region. The collaborative will support state teams as they build their knowledge and capacity to create the conditions— shared goals, interest holder engagement, data use, strategic communications, funding and policy, and capacity building—to promote educational equity and academic excellence for all students.
